Fall is here!

I absolutely love fall here in the Pacific Northwest...the crisp air and all the trees with their beautiful colors. So, when I saw this great Reminisce Autumn paper in my LSS on Saturday I just had to have it. I used a new product, Fiddle Dee Frame Card Making Kit (by TaDa Creative Studios), that I won from Limelight Papercrafts on WCMD to create this card. I really like the dimension the window and chipboard frame give to the card. I used my Twinkling H2Os to paint the frame and the pumpkin.

I wasn't sure this card needed a sentiment since the paper has plenty of words so I took a few pictures without a sentiment first and then added a sentiment to see how it looked. What do you think? Is it too much?

I {heart} this tree!

This tree from the Growing in Unity set was one of my first Unity Stamp purchases and I absolutely love it! It is so versatile and pretty. I have used it for a Halloween card, masked it to use it as a branch, and today I am sharing two cards I have created with it. First is a card I whipped up last night for the SCS limited supplies challenge.
First, I stamped the edges of the tree (in red) all around my piece of red cardstock to make a nice background. Then I stamped the tree in black onto another piece of Doodlebug Kisses card stock, cut it out, and adhered red twinkle stickers. I used decorative scissors to create the edge on the silver paper. I glued all the pieces to my card base, popped the tree up on dimensionals, and stamped my sentiment at the bottom, adding a few more A*Muse twinkle stickers and two silver brads (Making Memories).

Next, I created a holiday card. I love using the edges of this tree to create flourishes or a pretty frame for a sentiment. I wanted the sentiment to stand out but still have some gold in it so I stamped it in gold first and then stamped over it in black.

A Quick Post

For those of you who visit my blog regularly I apologize for not posting yet this week. I worked on so many cards/projects over WCMD weekend but haven't made anything this week (been busy cleaning/organizing my crafting space!). So, I thought I would share one of the cards I made this past Friday at a Stampin' Up crafting night. We got to make 3 cards and a project and this little penguin card was my favorite. My friend (the Stampin' Up demonstrator) said she got the idea/template for this card from Splitcoast Stampers (of course!). Happy Birthday Mandy!

Today over on Limelight Papercrafts, Mandy announced that it is her birthday and encouraged us to celebrate with her by making a birthday card. So, Happy Birthday Mandy...here is my bright and cheerful birthday card for you!

WCMD Fun!

I hope you all had lots of fun on World Card Making Day, I know I did! Friday night I got to do some stamping with friends and then yesterday I enjoyed all the fun games and challenges that SCS, Unity, and Limelight had going on. After I put my boys to bed I worked on 3 of the SCS challenges and thought I would share them with all of you. My first one was for the limited supplies challenge and I am happy with the clean and simple beauty of this card.
Details: SU Blue Bayou & River Rock Cardstock; SU Blue Bayou Ribbon; Unity leaf and sentiment stamps from Gratitude=Joy set; Colorbox Fluid Chalk - Prussian Blue; Making Memories white eyelets (I threaded the ribbon through these...kind of hard to see them in the picture).

For the ways to use it challenge (trees), I used this great Heidi Grace paper and the layout of my card was based off of Limelight's sketch challenge #5. The middle tree is popped up on foam squares and my *giggle sentiment is from Unity's Giggle Grove set. This is definitely a quick and easy card.
Finally, here is my card for the Technique Lovers Challenge, which challenged us to make these fun flowers. To give the flowers some character I tore some of the layers and crumpled others. I really love how they turned out and thought the sentiment needed to have a distressed feel so I tore around the edges of that too. What do you think?

Like Mandy, we have already gotten into the Halloween candy that is supposed to be for the 'trick or treaters'. We got this box at Costco when they had a $5 off coupon but by the time Halloween comes around we are just going to need to buy another one anyway!

Here it is...the last one. A picture of my favorite pair of shoes...New Balance slip-on shoes in brown! They are quick to put on (which is always a bonus with kids) and they are super comfy.

Hearts of Joy

I created this card using Maggie's sketch for Unity's Wednesday challenge. I inked up my new Unity worn grid background with Brilliance gold ink and stamped it onto SU purely pomegranate paper. I also used my gratitude=joy set from Unity. I stamped my flower three times onto SU river rock paper with Marvy Matchables wine colored ink. Then I finished the card off with a scalloped piece of river rock, a beautiful gold/burgandy ribbon, and two chipboard hearts which I pressed into the gold ink. I am loving my Unity stamps and if you have not had a chance to check them out yet, you should! Tomorrow is Hip Hop Thursday in the Unity forum on SCS and it is a fun day filled with challenges, prizes, and chatting with all the great Unity team members and customers.
