Hearts of Joy

I created this card using Maggie's sketch for Unity's Wednesday challenge. I inked up my new Unity worn grid background with Brilliance gold ink and stamped it onto SU purely pomegranate paper. I also used my gratitude=joy set from Unity. I stamped my flower three times onto SU river rock paper with Marvy Matchables wine colored ink. Then I finished the card off with a scalloped piece of river rock, a beautiful gold/burgandy ribbon, and two chipboard hearts which I pressed into the gold ink. I am loving my Unity stamps and if you have not had a chance to check them out yet, you should! I created this card using Kazan's sketch from 2 sketches 4 you and the Verve Diva challenge over on SCS to use the color purple. I like the soft faded look of this paper and the flower stamp.

A Card 4 You...BOO!

I am so excited to share the card that I made last night using Laura's fun sketch over on 2 sketches 4 you. The sketch inspired me to create a tri-fold card, which is not something I usually do. And I had been waiting to play with the awesome Halloween kit I received from Julie (specialcraftmom) who recently started up a new online store (scrapbookstoreatyourdoor). The kit is called Fright Night and has some great Bo-Bunny paper, cute die cuts, and fabulous fibers (along with a few other goodies). So, here is what I came up with. What do you think???

And, I really wanted a finished look to the inside too so I covered two of the sides with coordinating papers. I think in the middle I am going to mat a cute picture of my boys in their Halloween costumes and write a little Happy Halloween note to send to my grandma in California.

And since I used several die-cuts for this card, I am also entering it into Caardvarks "Live and Let Die" challenge.

So, now for all the details of this card. I started with a 6 x 12" piece of Bazzill white cardstock. Then I scored it at 4.75" and 9.5", leaving a 2.5" piece for the flap. I covered both sides of the flap with the striped paper. Then I marked the middle of the flap and drew the curves that I wanted to cut out. I covered the die cut spider web with crystal ice stickles and let dry before adhering to the flap. I added google eyes to the die cut spider and bent it's legs to give it more dimension. I tucked two of the spider's legs under part of the web and used a little tombo mono multi-glue to attach the back feet. The rest was easy...I just covered the other part of the card with coordinating paper (on both sides), tied the fun fibers around the card, and glued the BOO letters down so they would be hidden under the flap when the card was closed. In honor of her Grandma and World Alzheimer's Day, she is asking everyone to send at least one card to someone who cares for an Alzheimer patient. My grandmother and great grandmother both suffered from this disease so this has touched a special place in my heart. I am so thankful to Carolyn for raising money and awareness for Alzheimers. I also want to thank the many amazing companies and individuals who so generously donated to the blog candy. Please go to Carolyn's blog to see the long list! So, I decided to send my card to the facility that took good care of my grandmother. Here it is:

But, I didn't feel like this would be enough so I decided to send a bunch of cards that the staff could use to send to their loved ones or to someone who has touched their life in a positive way.















Even if you don't end up sending a card to a caregiver of an Alzheimer's patient, I hope this post will inspire you to send a card to someone who has made a difference in your life.

Two Challenges...1 Card

For this card I used Limelight's sketch which required 4 lines of ribbon and I followed the rules for the Limited Supplies Challenge over on SCS, which required only 3 colors - white, black, and one color of your choice and white had to be the most prominent. I used masking on two of my Unity stamps to create this. First, I took my dream tree and masked half of it, stamped it in my Versafine black ink, and then stamped it so it looked more like a branch. Then I took my Unity blossom quote (which you can see the full stamp on one of my cards below in a previous post) and just inked up the word blossom. To finish off the image, I added some prima flowers and put some crystal ice stickles in the center of each flower. I do not have any die cutting machine yet so my circle is actually hand cut and then I cut out a slightly larger circle with my scalloped scissors. Here are the rest of the details: Cardstock: Bazzill White & SU Purely Pomegranate, Stamps: Unity (Growing in Unity set & Blossom single), Ink: Versafine onyx black & Marvy Matchables wine, Prima flowers, Crystal Ice Stickles, Making Memories black eyelets, and black ribbon (unknown).

On another note...today is World Alzheimer's Day and if you have not already checked out Carolyn's blog, please visit her blog this week and see what she is asking all of us to do to thank those who work with Alzheimer patients. Both my grandmother and great grandmother sufferred from this disease and I am so thankful that Carolyn is helping to raise money and awareness for it.

A Sketch Challenge

Well, I have been keeping an eye on 2 sketches 4 you for awhile now because I love Kazan and Laura's sketches and I like to see everyone's cards. However, I was waiting until I got my blog up and running before I actually participated in the challenge. So, here is my card based off of Kazan's sketch #9.

I think this paper and giraffe stamp by Imaginisce (Baby Powder Collection) are just adorable! I used 3D foam squares to pop up the center panel, the giggle sentiment, and the giraffe to give some dimension. And I sponged Colorbox fluid chalk creamy brown around the edge of the center panel to give it a softer look and help focus in on the giraffe. I placed the center panel just above the words Baby & Blessing to keep with Kazan's sketch. I hope you are having a good day! I have not created any new projects these past two days but thought I would share a gift bag I did over the summer for a little boy's birthday.


This was for a 3 year old and the gift we gave him was a bug catcher along with some plastic snakes, insects, and bug stickers. I don't know all of the details about what I used since it was a few months ago, other than the dots are an A Muse Artstamp (Lots of Dots). I stamped the yellow dots first and then layered with the blue and red. I thought it turned out pretty cute! :) One of the things I love about stamping is that you can customize everything.
