He is Holy

As many of you know one of the resolutions I set for myself this year was to focus more on God and His word on a daily basis. One of the ways I am going to do this is by participating in the His Holy Name challenge that Patter Cross has started this year. At first I was feeling a little overwhelmed and unsure how to go about creating a project that focused on God's word but I prayed about it, let go of my need for perfection (since it is not about me but Him and my goal is to be closer to him...my projects are for more for spiritual growth not publication :), and thought about what size/type of project would be best for me. So, here is what I came up with...

For my page I found two Bible verses that really spoke to me and also added a verse from a song I like. I decided to make small 4x6 pages that I will compile into a photo album. I am going to get one of those photo albums that has separate slots for each 4x6 picture and then has a few journal lines so that I can put a date by each one too. I am super excited to begin this wonderful journey and know that it is going to be such a blessing in my life...thank you for the inspiration Patter! Thanks for stopping by and sharing in this journey with me!

Some Love for Limelight Papercrafts

Last night I worked on my card for Limelight's sketch and product challenge. The focus for this week was textured products. So I pulled out my Cuttlebug and Bazzill Basics paper (such great texture!) and here is what I came up with...
I used my Floral Fantasy embossing folder to give texture to the background. Then I stamped the white Bazzill Basics panel with a heart stamp from my Paper Salon 'oh sew fun' tailored tin using my Colorbox Rosebud ink. I used the same stamp for the hearts that help frame the panel and the rub-on Love sentiment. Then I popped the panel and hearts up on 3D foam squares.

This week Mandy is giving away some Core'dinations paper to one lucky winner...I am SO wanting to try some of this paper! :) If you want a chance to win you need to hurry and get your card linked up by today! But make sure to check out Limelight Papercrafts blog every week for new challenges and products! Thanks for visiting!

Color Inspiration and a Unity Winner

Happy Saturday! Last night I worked on a card for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #37. I absolutely love the colors this week and I knew I had the perfect paper and buttons - Basic Grey's Off Beat collection. I also created this card for Stamp Something's challenge this week which is actually not to stamp anything at all on your card. Here is what I came up with:
The white lines reminded me of little stems and I thought all of the different sizes and colors of buttons made for some nice flowers. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the get well soon sentiment on Bazzill Basics Festive (practically pumpkin pie) paper. Then I added the white felt thickers to help bring greater attention to the sentiment.
Now for the big announcement! :) The winner of the Unity single goes to Unity newbie...Catherine (a.k.a. maiahs_momma). Congratulations! I have your email since you included it with your comment so I will be emailing you later today. Thanks again to all of you for the wonderful comments this week!

Day 5 - Sweet and Simple

For my last Growing in Unity post I thought I would keep it simple. One of the many things I love about Unity stamps is how versatile they are. For this little tag, I stamped the branches of the dream tree in SU pretty in pink for a flourish background. Then I pulled out my Bitty Christmas Tags set and created this sentiment.
I thought this would be cute packaging for Valentine's Day treats for my son's friends. I used SU's real red cardstock and the ribbon is actually from something I bought at Pottery Barn Kids during Christmas time. Then I just used my white gel pen to add the dots around the scalloped edge. I found the cute heart bags at Michaels last year.

In case you have not checked out the Unity Hip Hop Winners Thread...the winner of the Unity single was Kristen. Thanks to all of you for the sweet comments this week!

Now, I do still have this Unity single (of my own) to give away to one of you who has not yet tried these fabulous stamps! So, make sure to leave a comment today letting me know that you do not have any Unity yet and I will randomly pick a winner (from all of the comments this week from you newbies) tomorrow morning and post it here on my blog.

Next week it is Jenn's week to feature Unity every day. So, make sure to go check out her beautiful cards & projects and another chance to win a Unity single. Have a great weekend!

Growing in Unity - Day 4

It's Hip Hop Thursday! If you haven't already done the Unity blog hop, make sure to stop over at Angela's blog today and visit the fabulous Unity Design Team blogs. Also, if you have never participated in Hip Hop over in the Unity forum...what are you waiting for! :) It is a ton of fun! Come on by and introduce yourself. The Unity team and customers are all such a nice and welcoming group.

Today I have another card to share using my favorite Unity set gratitude=joy. I created this card for the Limited Supplies challenge 201 over on SCS.
The challenge was to use some of your favorite things. So, of course I used my Unity stamps and some of my favorite colors...SU sage shadow, brown, and white. I tend to be drawn mostly to earthy tones like greens, blues, and browns. The challenge also called for two or three of your favorite embellishments. For this card I chose ribbon, my MS small scalloped circle punch, and SU's hodgepodge hardware. However, I still felt the card needed a little something more so I did use a brown Prima flower which I folded in half, then in half again, and tucked underneath the ribbon to give more dimension to that side of the card.

I was also inspired by Christi's new venture this year - Exercise Your Creativity. Her first challenge is Doors. So, I decided to create a tri-fold card (which is not something I usually do) and make the outside of the card kind of feel like a door. I thought the hodgepodge hardware felt like a little handle that you need to turn to open the card. Then I decorated the inside of the card too.

Don't forget to leave another comment this morning for your chance to win a Unity single. I will announce the winner sometime this evening over in the Unity forum, Hip Hop Winners thread. And make sure to stop back by tomorrow for my final project of the week!

Growing in Unity - Day 3

Hello all you Unity lovers! Thanks for all of the nice comments so far this week! Today I have a card to share with a little pop up surprise when you open it. I used Unity's blossom single. Here is the front...I accented the dot paper with some buttons and popped the quote panel up on foam squares.
Now, here is what the inside looks like.
I had a bit of a hard time figuring out the whole flower pop up thing but I think it turned out okay.

So, make sure to leave a comment today for another chance to win this Unity single, So & So Loves. I thought this would be a great single to give with Valentine's Day around the corner. I don't have this one yet but have seen others create some fabulous cards with it. (Of course, if you win and you already have this stamp I am sure you will be able to email Eryn and choose a single that you don't yet own!)

And please let me know in your comment if you are new to Unity and do not have any of their stamps yet because I am going to give away this brand new Unity single from my own stash to one of you.

Tomorrow is the first Hip Hop of the year so I am sure there will be a lot of great giveaways and it looks like there will be another new release too! So, stop on by the Unity forum and chat with us...you might just win yourself some new Unity while you're there!

Growing in Unity - Day 2

Today I have a project to share using Unity's School Rock Star set. I think this set is so great for scrapbooking the school years and for teacher gifts too. I have also used it for a few cards, one of which you can view here.
A month ago I found these great kraft folders with elastic closures on clearance at Borders for only 50 cents! Needless to say I bought a bunch of them! When I was growing up, my parents always saved my pictures, report cards, and projects and as I got older it was so fun to look back on it all. So, I am doing the same for my boys and I thought this folder would be perfect for keeping track of all of the special artwork, writing, etc. that my oldest son does this year in Kindergarten.

I also created this for Stamp Something's first challenge of the year which is 'Something New'. I used my new Cosmo Cricket chipboard pieces (The Wildest ABC's cigar box) that I received for Christmas from my son. My hubby took him to our LSS and he picked them out all on his own...what great taste!

Here are some close ups of the Unity stamps and a picture of the inside of the folder. It is about a 1/2" thick so it will hold a fair amount. I think I might need to decorate the inside a little too!

Thanks for visiting today! I'll be back tomorrow with another card!
