Happy Birthday Mandy!

Today over on Limelight Papercrafts, Mandy announced that it is her birthday and encouraged us to celebrate with her by making a birthday card. So, Happy Birthday Mandy...here is my bright and cheerful birthday card for you!

WCMD Fun!

I hope you all had lots of fun on World Card Making Day, I know I did! Friday night I got to do some stamping with friends and then yesterday I enjoyed all the fun games and challenges that SCS, Unity, and Limelight had going on. After I put my boys to bed I worked on 3 of the SCS challenges and thought I would share them with all of you. My first one was for the limited supplies challenge and I am happy with the clean and simple beauty of this card.
Details: SU Blue Bayou & River Rock Cardstock; SU Blue Bayou Ribbon; Unity leaf and sentiment stamps from Gratitude=Joy set; Colorbox Fluid Chalk - Prussian Blue; Making Memories white eyelets (I threaded the ribbon through these...kind of hard to see them in the picture).

For the ways to use it challenge (trees), I used this great Heidi Grace paper and the layout of my card was based off of Limelight's sketch challenge #5. The middle tree is popped up on foam squares and my *giggle sentiment is from Unity's Giggle Grove set. This is definitely a quick and easy card.
Finally, here is my card for the Technique Lovers Challenge, which challenged us to make these fun flowers. To give the flowers some character I tore some of the layers and crumpled others. I really love how they turned out and thought the sentiment needed to have a distressed feel so I tore around the edges of that too. What do you think?

Details for this card: Basic Grey Paper - Boxer Collection; Bazzill Basics Ivy Cardstock; Unity stamp - blossom single; Colorbox fluid chalk - dark brown; Making Memories brown eyelets & large antique copper brads; Offray ribbon

Have a great day!

Limelight Papercrafts WCMD Challenge

Limelight Papercrafts is having a fun challenge on their blog today where you can win some card making goodies! You can check it out HERE. These are my entries for the challenge.

What's in your bag? #1

Here is a picture of my breakfast item...Cracklin' Oat Bran cereal.

What's in your bag? #3

Here is my half finished, okay maybe only a third finished, project. It will be a cute little Halloween treat box.

What's in your bag? #5

Like Mandy, we have already gotten into the Halloween candy that is supposed to be for the 'trick or treaters'. We got this box at Costco when they had a $5 off coupon but by the time Halloween comes around we are just going to need to buy another one anyway!

What's in your bag? #6

Here is a picture of my oldest son zonked out on the couch after a busy day.

What's in your bag? #7

Here it is...the last one. A picture of my favorite pair of shoes...New Balance slip-on shoes in brown! They are quick to put on (which is always a bonus with kids) and they are super comfy.

Thanks Mandy for this fun game! For anyone visiting my blog, if you haven't checked out Limelight Papercrafts yet, HERE is the link. They carry tons of fabulous card making/scrapbooking products!

Hearts of Joy

I created this card using Maggie's sketch for Unity's Wednesday challenge. I inked up my new Unity worn grid background with Brilliance gold ink and stamped it onto SU purely pomegranate paper. I also used my gratitude=joy set from Unity. I stamped my flower three times onto SU river rock paper with Marvy Matchables wine colored ink. Then I finished the card off with a scalloped piece of river rock, a beautiful gold/burgandy ribbon, and two chipboard hearts which I pressed into the gold ink. I am loving my Unity stamps and if you have not had a chance to check them out yet, you should! Tomorrow is Hip Hop Thursday in the Unity forum on SCS and it is a fun day filled with challenges, prizes, and chatting with all the great Unity team members and customers. So, if you get a chance come by and say 'hi'.

Wishing you Joy

I created this card using Kazan's sketch from 2 sketches 4 you and the Verve Diva challenge over on SCS to use the color purple. I like the soft faded look of this paper and the flower stamp.

Here are all the details for this card:

Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye 29th St. Market Collection - Adoring Print/Loving Lavender Paper

Colorbox fluid chalk ink - warm violet and olive

Stamps: flower & leaf (Inkadinkado); sentiment (Michaels $1 bin)

Thanks for stopping by!

A Card 4 You...BOO!

I am so excited to share the card that I made last night using Laura's fun sketch over on 2 sketches 4 you. The sketch inspired me to create a tri-fold card, which is not something I usually do. And I had been waiting to play with the awesome Halloween kit I received from Julie (specialcraftmom) who recently started up a new online store (scrapbookstoreatyourdoor). The kit is called Fright Night and has some great Bo-Bunny paper, cute die cuts, and fabulous fibers (along with a few other goodies). So, here is what I came up with. What do you think???

Then when you go to open the card you see this...

Too CUTE, right?!
And, I really wanted a finished look to the inside too so I covered two of the sides with coordinating papers. I think in the middle I am going to mat a cute picture of my boys in their Halloween costumes and write a little Happy Halloween note to send to my grandma in California.

And since I used several die-cuts for this card, I am also entering it into Caardvarks "Live and Let Die" challenge.

So, now for all the details of this card. I started with a 6 x 12" piece of Bazzill white cardstock. Then I scored it at 4.75" and 9.5", leaving a 2.5" piece for the flap. I covered both sides of the flap with the striped paper. Then I marked the middle of the flap and drew the curves that I wanted to cut out. I covered the die cut spider web with crystal ice stickles and let dry before adhering to the flap. I added google eyes to the die cut spider and bent it's legs to give it more dimension. I tucked two of the spider's legs under part of the web and used a little tombo mono multi-glue to attach the back feet. The rest was easy...I just covered the other part of the card with coordinating paper (on both sides), tied the fun fibers around the card, and glued the BOO letters down so they would be hidden under the flap when the card was closed. Hope you enjoyed this card! I had a lot of fun making it. Thanks for stopping by, have a fa-BOO-lus day! :)

Oh, and here is a picture of the all the goodies in the Fright Night Kit that I got HERE. I think I am going to make a mini album with the rest of this great kit.

Many Thanks

If you have not yet seen Carolyn King's blog you MUST go visit! She has a HUGE blog candy for one lucky person. In honor of her Grandma and World Alzheimer's Day, she is asking everyone to send at least one card to someone who cares for an Alzheimer patient. My grandmother and great grandmother both suffered from this disease so this has touched a special place in my heart. I am so thankful to Carolyn for raising money and awareness for Alzheimers. I also want to thank the many amazing companies and individuals who so generously donated to the blog candy. Please go to Carolyn's blog to see the long list! So, I decided to send my card to the facility that took good care of my grandmother. Here it is:

But, I didn't feel like this would be enough so I decided to send a bunch of cards that the staff could use to send to their loved ones or to someone who has touched their life in a positive way.

Even if you don't end up sending a card to a caregiver of an Alzheimer's patient, I hope this post will inspire you to send a card to someone who has made a difference in your life.

Here are the details for my Many Thanks card: Cardstock: SU Purely Pomegranate & Wild Wasabi, Bazzill Pollen; Colorbox moss green & warm violet ink; Stampendous many thanks stamp, SU Noteworthy flower stamp; SU tag corner punch, Prima flowers, Making Memories crystal brads; (PP & ribbon Unkown)
